BIFM Awards 2015: The search is on. By Steve Gladwin, BIFM Awards Chair of Judges
I was delighted that last year's BIFM Awards ceremony at The Grosvenor House Hotel was an exceptional success. The feedback to myself, BIFM Chairman, Julie Kortens, and the BIFM support team from Award winners, finalists, entrants, attendees and our sponsors, has been exceptional.
In my first year as Chair of the Judges, I wanted to gain as much feedback as possible from key stakeholders and we sought to build this feedback into the Awards process and ceremony.
That process continues and I am extremely grateful to those people who take the time toprovide such feedback. As a previous client of mine used to say constantly, ?feedback is a gift?. So thank you and please keep your suggestions and ideas coming.
Reading this, you may think that the October 12 is a long way off. However, the process for the 2015 Awards started back in September 2014, and our nominated Lead Judges are all looking to raise the bar even higher in terms of industry excellence.
This year, the Award categories are divided into three areas: People, Impact and Innovation.
We have people Award categories ?representing individuals at all stages of their career paths as well as the organisational ?Learning and Development? Award, and the ?FM Team of the Year? Award. Over the many years that I have been in FM I have worked with many great teams.
Sometimes these teams have been a mix of client and service provider working together. Other times bid or mobilisation teams, or teams from the same organisation coming together to make a real Impact. This Award provides the opportunity for high performing teams to come together to showcase the difference they have made.
Then we have Awards that really make an impact to either the organisation or more broader in a society context. Several of the Awards in the Impact category build on the success of previous years, for example ?Impact on Society?. This Award builds on the success of previous categories and really does provide inspiration for organisations to demonstrate significant contributions to society.
The innovation Awards allow organisations to showcase the use of technology, systems, products or processes.
I urge you all to think about your people, your projects and your organisation ? what can you showcase to the FM community? How can you best demonstrate your exceptional achievements? What can you share to inspire others as we all work together to advance the FM profession?
The BIFM Awards are the stand-out awards within FM. Last year?s ceremony was sold out several weeks before the Awards night and I am confident this year will be no different. Winning is an exceptional achievement and sends out a strong message from a positioning perspective.
Like last year, I wish you all the best of luck with your entries, and I look forward to seeing what exceptional and inspirational entries we receive from across the sector and profession in 2015.
