Career Development
The BIFM is committed to the development of facilities management as a career of choice. We support all members, including those who have no formal FM Qualifications, as they progress throughout their careers, from those who are joining the profession, to facilities managers with years of valuable experience.
Opportunities for development include:
- the BIFM Qualification
- the IFMA/CFM Credential
- intensive and interactive short training courses provided by BIFM Training
- participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through opportunities offered by the BIFM i.e. Regional CPD events and the new Online CPD recording framework
- the prestigious annual conference, Good Practice Guides and updates on key FM issues through our twice-monthly magazine FM World
BIFM Qualification
The BIFM Qualification has been established to reflect the needs of a growing management discipline; and it is an important benchmark (at first degree level), which recognises professional practice in facilities management. It is designed to offer a flexible yet robust structure for professional development and to set the national standard for FM practice.
The BIFM actively sets out to make the process inclusive and open to all. There are 3 routes to BIFM Qualification (BIFM Qual) and the choice of route will vary with each individual, depending on prior knowledge and experience. For full explanation on these routes please click here.
