IFMA Credentials
Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
IFMA describes the CFM qualification as:
"The first credentialing program in facility management and the most respected global credential in the industry, setting the standard for ensuring the knowledge and abilities of practicing facility managers."
The CFM is assessed by a computer-marked, multiple-choice examination consisting of four modules. Each module is 90 minutes long, with questions related to IFMA’s set of nine core competences, and candidates must pass the entire exam in one sitting. The exam has been localised for use in Europe.
Certification is valid for three years and CFMs must demonstrate a continued commitment to growth and excellence by earning a CFM-required number of maintenance points.

Facility Management Professional (FMP)
IFMA’s FMP designation is a knowledge-based credential, demonstrating a proven comprehension of the basics of facilities management. FMPs have successfully pursued the educational curriculum necessary to obtain the designation, acquiring fundamental knowledge in all of the core competency areas, building their skills, and broadening their knowledge and professional networks.
A springboard for obtaining certification, the Facility Management Professional (FMP) designation requires six credits and can be completed in approximately 12 months. FMP candidates may customise their training to build the specific knowledge they need to meet individual goals. Training is available through IFMA and approved providers. The FMP is an ideal catalyst to early candidacy for the CFM credential.
