National Occupational Standards

Asset Skills is the Sector Skills Council for housing, property, facilities management and cleaning. Its role is to identify the skills needs of employers and develop appropriate standards and qualifications.

National Occupational Standards (NOS) identify what individuals need to be able to do in the workplace and are expressed in outcome terms. They also define the skills and knowledge required to perform effectively in a given job role. They are developed by employers and relate directly to workplace activities.

BIFM has been actively involved in the project to develop the NOS for Facilities Management, supported by Institute staff , volunteers and employers.

Attached below are the proposed NOS for level 3, which are awaiting formal accreditation.
