BIFM Technology Award

Technology plays an integral role in our lives both at home and in the workplace. Facilities management technology applications cover every aspect of our work through Computer Aided Design ( CAD ), Computer Aided Facilities Management ( CAFM ), Building Management Systems

( BMS ) etc with which we are all familiar. The advent of e-portals, Embedded Smart Sensors

( ESS ), Personal Digital Assistants ( PDA ), Radio Frequency Identification Devices ( RFID ), Smart Cards ( SC ), Biometrics and new Information Management Systems are revolutionising the way we use and share information, and take decisions, but how will this affect our industry ?

This is a key issue that must be addressed and we are looking for effective demonstrable examples of new technology, systems and processes that are appearing in our facilities management work environment.

The 2008 Technology Award entry should be structured to enable the entry to be evaluated against the following criteria :-

·         Requirement

·         Business Case

·         Technology Solution

·         Implementation

·         Measurement of Success

·         Application in general FM.

This is not an Award for technology for the sake of it, but for technology in use today.
