Innovation in Technology Systems/Services Award
AWARD WINNERS - GSH

Technology in Systems and Services plays an integral role in our lives both at home and in the workplace. Applications within the field of Facilities Management cover every aspect of our work through Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM), and Building Management Systems (BMS) etc with which we are all very familiar.
The advent of e-portals, Embedded Smart Sensors (ESS), Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID), Smart Cards (SC), Biometrics and new Information Management Systems are revolutionising the ways in which we collect, use and share information, and to take decisions, but how will this affect our industry?
This is the key issue that must be addressed and we are looking for effective demonstrable examples of new technology in systems and services that are appearing in the FM work environment
Judging Criteria:
The 2009 Innovation in Technology in Systems and Services Award entry should be structured to enable the entry to be evaluated against the following criteria:-
1. Requirement
2. Business Case
3. Technology Solution. Is it Innovative?
4. Implementation
5. Measurement of Success
6. Application in general FM
This is an independent award for technology innovation in FM across every scope of service. It can relate to technology, systems, use of space, service delivery etc.
The primary measure of success will be how the Innovation improved the solution to a problem and can range from the simplest (and least expensive) to the most complicated rationalisation. The applicant should include sufficient data to back up their submission in terms of cost effectiveness as well as being able to demonstrate the novelty of the solution in a clear and concise way.
The definition of Innovation is "The act of introducing new ideas and methods in a novel way."
Explain the need for the Innovation, how it was developed , any plans for the future and of course the resultant benefits. Judges like to see at least 6 months of data in support of the application prior to the 31st of March 2009
