Aim

To explain the implications of the Disability Discrimination Acts for Facilities Managers and their places of work

Objectives

By the end of this course you will be able to describe:
Practical disability issues in relation to facilities management and your premises
Appropriate management policies and procedures that can be implemented
Relevant design considerations for your workplace
The principles of auditing and implementation at your workplace
Fire egress planning for disabled people
A draft access action plan for your own workplace
Improved understanding of disability and why an inclusive approach matters

Description

This course is tailored to the needs of the facilities and estates manager - blending practical disability awareness training with facilities management issues, management policies and procedures, design considerations, guidance to auditing and implementation work, and fire egress planning for disabled people.

The course provides a holistic approach to access - giving delegates an all-round perspective on this critical but sometimes confusing piece of legislation.

The day includes plenty of workshop participation and practical sessions, and attendees will leave with their own Access Action Plan to develop further back at their workplace - plus lots of ideas for ways to improve access at little or no cost or disruption.
