Details Part L (Energy) Building Regulations for FM’s

Part L of the 2006 Building Regulations covers energy efficiency and places many more requirements on FM’s in existing buildings. Where plant and building fabric are replaced or upgraded then Part L2B of the building regulations come into force that require minimum standards of energy performance. New or upgraded plant also needs to be commissioned to a high standard and sub-metering with an associated building log book needs to be introduced.

FM’s need to know what the requirements are and what actions they need to take when carrying out works in existing buildings. They should also be aware of the carbon targets required for new buildings.

Course content includes:

• EPBD & Part L
• Recent changes to the building regulations
• Understanding the structure of Part L
• Requirements/implications of Part L2B for works in existing buildings
• Extensions and consequential Improvements
• Change of building use
• Installation & commissioning & handover
• Sub-metering and building log books
• How to go well beyond Building Regulations to achieve low carbon buildings
• How to generate an asset rating and energy certificate for works in existing buildings
