Details The Office of Government Commerce is charged with improving the efficiency of all civic procurement. 'Construction & Refurbishment 08: Building a Future' will focus on what is being done by the OGC, and Government as a whole, in creating sustainable practice in Government construction and refurbishment projects.

The day will be chaired by procurement specialist, Colin Cram, former Chief Executive of the North West Centre for Excellence, who also has a unique perspective having been involved in the formation of the OGC.

Speaking at Construction & Refurbishment 07 last year, Joe Cavanagh, Lead Director on the National Audit Office's 'Building for the Future' report, said that progress in the area of sustainable construction and refurbishment was "pretty grim" in that only 9% of Government Construction & Refurbishment projects could be demonstrated to meet the expected standards.
