The SW Region in conjunction with The Olympic Delivery Authority is pleased to invite BIFM members on a tour of the Olympic Park, where you will have the opportunity to see the major venues for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games taking shape. The ODA is the public body responsible for developing and building the new venues and insfrastructure for the Games and their use after 2012. To book your place please email Gareth Andrews as numbers are limited to 30. The tour is confirmed for Monday 13 September at 6.00pm departing from Stratford Regional Station. Travel around the park will be provided once you get here. Please arrange your own travel to and from the park.(http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/default.aspx) If arriving at Stratford by tube or rail, you will need to come out of the station and turn left, pass the temporary taxi facilities and National Express coach stands, and the bus stop is a short walk along Great Eastern Road. Where possible, there will be two drop off points after your tour: 1. The Greenway (next to Pudding Mill Lane DLR station) The Greenway is a public walkway overlooking the Olympic Park, giving you an opportunity to take photos and visit The View Tube – a viewing gallery and café. For more information see www.theviewtube.co.uk. (Please note that the drop off at The Greenway will not always be available due to construction works. Your tour guide will advise on the day of your tour.) 2. Stratford Regional Station Security Please note that security on the Olympic Park is tightly controlled and all guests aged 16 years of age or older will require photographic identification. Also there are restrictions on sharp objects. As with airlines, please do not bring items such as, nail scissors, knives etc. A full list of restricted items, is available on request. In summer time, it can get warm on the tour bus so it is advisable to carry a bottle of water Each tour will last approximately one hour and you will remain on the bus for the duration of the visit You will need to arrive 15 minutes beforehand to register for your tour No alcohol is permitted on the Olympic Park and visitors will be refused access if alcohol has been consumed prior to the visit The London 2012 team looks forward to meeting you on Monday 13 September and showcasing the hard work which has already occurred on the Olympic Park. |
