Security, the Race to the Bottom Breakfast Meeting - CANCELLED
22nd February 2017 (7:30AM)
|Location||Building 1000, Lakeside North Harbour, Western Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO6 3EN|
|Details||Is the Manned Guarding market being cannibalised due to the demand from the customer for continually lower prices?
A recent Security Research Initiative (SRI) report states that security guards are becoming unvalued. The report ‘The Security Sector in Perspective’ looks at how those working in the security sector view it and looks at their perspectives on economic and regulatory changes. Falling profit margins in the security industry and a trend towards tenders that may be ‘unsustainable’ are crippling the industry. Our expert speaker, Richard Webster looks at two possible futures, the first entails reducing operating costs, although difficult to do without making compromises in areas that might not be immediately visible to a customer but can cause a long term detrimental impact, on staff training for instance. The second possible option he explores is that manned security could be provided at or near cost, with suppliers having to accept reduced profitability where they can get it.
Richard will be posing the questions of what should or could be done by the industry to reverse a move that puts an emphasis on getting the lowest price over getting the best ‘value’, especially considering the potential risks that come from security service failure.
Richard Webster, Managing Director of TSG Ltd champions a partnership approach with every stakeholder of the business and his working ethos is based upon principles of trust, mutual respect and the sharing of common goals. We would like to thank TSG for hosting this event and providing breakfast and our speaker for sharing his knowledge and experience.
