BIFM Scotland celebrating FM Education and revisited site tour of City of Glasgow College
14th September 2017 (6:00PM)
|Location||Glasgow City College, 190 Cathedral Street, Glasgow G4 0RF|
|Details||City of Glasgow College is dedicated to meeting industry demand, both through its qualifications and its two new campuses. The opening of the City Campus in August 2016 completed the college’s initiative to create two state-of-the-art teaching and learning centres in the heart of Glasgow, giving students access to modern, industry-standard facilities. The City building recently won the 2017 RIBA National Award for Best Current Scottish Architecture and is a contender for this year’s RIBA Stirling Prize for the UK’s Best Building of the Year.
Lyle Christie, of the architectural firm, Reiach and Hall, will discuss how the City building evolved from proposal to reality. He will highlight how the building’s design has supported an open, interactive and cutting edge approach to education.
To meet industry demand for qualifications within the facilities management sector, City of Glasgow College commenced delivery of the BIFM Level 4 Diploma in Facilities Management in March 2017. They are the only Scottish provider to deliver this qualification.
City of Glasgow College is undergoing an exciting period of development of their facilities management suite of qualifications. Kay Sheridan, Faculty Director for Education and Society, will discuss the new qualification and current developments with regards to a pathway to higher qualifications.
Following the presentations, we will open the floor to questions and which we hope will lead to an open discussion as to how to shape the future of FM education in Scotland. The evening will then conclude with a tour led by Head of Facilities Fergal McCauley.
