Welcome to the Health & Safety Special Interest Group pages of the new BIFM web site where I hope that you will find all the latest web links to keep you updated on new legislation and best practice. The HSE are keen to work in partnership with the BIFM as they recognise that our membership work in a wide range of organisations and have such a diverse skills base.

I have had a few meetings now with the advisor to the HSC Chairman and as a result the Health & Safety SIG have been invited to contribute to an FM’s guidance document concerning Work at Height and also a high level document aimed at turning Directors/Senior Managers negatives towards Health & Safety
into positives. I will of course keep you updated.

Also keep a look out in FM-World where there will soon be an article written by the HSE exclusively for the BIFM.

The membership of the institute has been welcomed to try out the HSE corporate Health & Safety Performance Index system (CHASPI), which may be found within the HSE website www.hse.gov.uk. I would be interested to receive your feedback regarding this web-based system.

If you would like to be involved in contributing to the Health & Safety Special Interest Group or if there are any issues or projects that you would like the group to become involved in then please do not hesitate to contact me.
