FM 2007 Challenges and Opportunities in the FM Sector

BIFM wanted to understand what the FM Community saw as the key challenges and opportunities over the next five years.
To do this BIFM joined forces with accountants and business advisors BDO Stoy Hayward to carry out the largest survey of FM in recent times, with over 1,500 FM Professionals completing an online questionnaire.
The results provide insights into key areas, including the widening reponsibilties of FMs; the FM contribution to sustainability; business continuity; supply chain effectiveness; compliance and golbal procurement. The picture that emerges is of a profession and industry responding to changing economic and social pressures. There are plenty of challenges but there are as many opportunities to prove the value of the FM approach.
The BIFM have been and will continue to explore these issues through a series of roundtables, sponsored by BDO Stoy Hayward, and the discussions will feed into the institute’s thinking about its priorities.
