Sustainability in FM 2011 results

The results from the annual BIFM Sustainability in FM Survey 2011 are now available. Launched in 2007 by BIFM and the University of Reading, the survey examines the key drivers, issues and best practices within FM. The results for 2011 make for interesting reading, and are available for free to all members. Highlights include:

  • 91% respondents believe their organisation now have sustainability policies in place
  • Corporate image (98%) is a key driver for such policies (was 59% in 2009)
  • 90% state that carbon footprint is a key issue in sustainability policies (was 48% in 2009)

The physical constraints of a building are still cited as the main barrier for sustainability policies.

BIFM would like to thank all members who took the time to complete the survey and contribute to the research.
