Limitless - Dubai
Job Description
Producing and implementing FM strategy, based on best practice, for Dubai’s first international development company. Sourcing and negotiating high quality service providers who can deliver internationally.
How did you get in to the FM sector?
Since the age of 12, I have always wanted to work around buildings and I studied construction at university.
Give us a brief run-down of your previous roles.
Energy coordinator, account manager in M&E, business analyst/consultant in FM, operational FM for Carillion.
How did you find out about the job?
Through a recruitment consultant.
What attracted you to the job?
Where to start! The scale of the project compared with the UK is mind blowing. There is huge scope to grow with a new and rapidly growing company – there is international travel too. We can make a major impact on people’s lives and the environment they work, live and play in.
What do you like / dislike about it?
It is a relatively new industry. Most people outside of the industry have no understanding of what is involved. My mates think I am like Hong Kong Phoey, when he is being the janitor.
If you could change one thing about the industry, what would it be?
More recognition for operations.
When and why did you join the BIFM?
I joined two years ago as I felt it was the essential next step in my career progression – and it has been.
Are you involved in any BIFM events?
I was before I left the UK and now want to become involved internationally.
What has been your career high point to date?
Being nominated for an award for achievement by my previous client and team members.
What car do you drive?
Currently a Renault Cleo hire car, but I am getting a BMW X5 V8.
Who was, or is, your mentor?
Most recently, a senor director who used to work in the Middle East.
