Group Membership FAQs

What is the difference between Corporate and Group membership?
Corporate membership provides the equivalent of the Associate grade of membership benefits for an allocated number of individuals within an organisation.  Within a Group membership individuals can be registered at any grade of membership and are entitled to use post nominal letters if they hold one of the assessed grades.  Within a corporate membership individuals are not entitled to use any post nominal letters.

Individuals on a corporate membership can be replaced and changed at any point during the membership.  Corporate membership of the BIFM offers additional benefits for an organisation to assist with raising their profile within the FM industry.  Please click here for more information on the benefits of corporate membership.  Any organisation can, of course be both a corporate member and a group member  in order to benefit both the organisation as a whole and it’s individual employees,

How many employees can we add to the membership?
There is no maximum limit to the number of employees you bring to the scheme.  However there is a minimum number of ten.

How much will it cost to join?
The cost of group membership is dependant on the number of employees you bring to the scheme.

My company already has a corporate membership which is not due to expire yet, can we still join as Group members?
Yes you can still join as a group member even if your company has a corporate membership.  We can either leave the corporate membership to expire or credit the remaining subscription cost against the cost of the Group membership.  Some organisations chose to retain their corporate membership in addition to the Group membership, as there are additional benefits for your company.
Please click here for more information on the benefits of corporate membership.

How do I know if anyone in my organisation already has membership of the BIFM?
Our Membership and Customer Service Team can advise you of the number of individuals who currently hold membership of the BIFM, and once your organisation has registered we would then contact those members for data transfer permissions.

If employees already have membership how does this work?
If an employee of your organisation already has membership with the BIFM we would pro rata their subscription fee to match the renewal date of the Group membership.

What if an employee leaves the company part way through the scheme?
If an employee leaves your organisation part way through the scheme they will retain their individual membership and be invited to renew individually.

What if I want to add an employee to the membership part way through the year?
You can add contacts to the membership at any time.  We would pro rata the subscription fee for the individual and include this on the next invoice that is sent to the company.
