Grades
It is possible to apply for two main grades of membership – Associate and Member Grade.
Associate grade is suitable for people who are new to the FM industry, or working within junior FM positions.
Member grade is suitable for those who have 5 years or more managerial experience together with over 3 years Facilities Management experience and are entitled to use the post nominal letters MBIFM.

Associate Membership |
This grade of membership is open to all. You do not need to have any qualifications or experience to become an Associate. Apply for Associate Membership |

Member Grade (MBIFM) |
Member Grade is available to those who have 5 years or more managerial experience together with over 3 years Facilities Management experience. Those who apply for member grade must submit their Job Description and a CV for assessment. Once member grade is awarded, members may use the post nominal letters ‘MBIFM’. Apply for Member Grade |

Qualified Membership (BIFM(Qual)) |
A Qualified Member is someone who has completed the BIFM Qualification. They are entitled to use the post nominal letters BIFM(Qual). |

Fellow (FBIFM) |
Fellowship can be applied for by any member who has held Member grade continuously for over five years and holds a senior position within the Facilities Management sector. |
Student Members and other concessions
Students
If you are studying for a degree in Facilities Management or you are studying for the BIFM Examinations you will be eligible for a student concession which will reduce your subscription to £56.00 per year, regardless of your membership grade. In order to claim this rate of membership you will be asked for proof of your student status.
Examination Candidates
If you have already booked onto the BIFM examinations and paid your examination fee, you will automatically be given free membership for one year so please do not apply using these pages.
Unemployed Members
If you are unemployed you are eligible to claim a reduced subscription for one year. Please contact the membership department on 0845 058 1358 or at membership@bifm.org.uk for more information.
Retired Members
If you are over 60 and not in full time employment, you are eligible to apply for a retired concessionary rate of membership. Again, please contact the membership department for further information.
