MBIFM Route c) Other Relevant Qualifications

This route is for those who achieve a Diploma level qualification at Level 4 and above which is related to FM. 

The 3 key criteria for assessment for membership at all levels are:

a) Level of experience – the evidence for this is provided through Job Description and CV

b) Length of experience – the evidence for this is provided through Job Description and CV

c) FM knowledge and expertise (based on the revised FM competences) – the evidence for this is through evidence of the acquisition of knowledge, which could be achievement of a qualification at a specific level.

At this point, it is imperative to understand that because FM knowledge cannot be proved solely by a qualification at this level, it will be assessed by the successful completion of an In Depth Personal and Professional Review  (PPR), which is based on the revised BIFM competences.

APPENDIX A – COVERAGE WITHIN BIFM QUALIFICATIONS
By viewing the list of units within the BIFM qualifications, an indication can be gained as to whether a qualification is “related”.

APPENDIX B – Areas for Exempting Qualifying Criteria for CBIFM
This list is approved (at February 2010) and this gives an indication of the areas which are “related” to facilities management.  This list shows bodies which award chartered membership – however there may be other bodies which are “related” which are not chartered. 

APPENDIX C – LIST OF QUALIFICATIONS
This list is current as at February 2010.  This list is not definitive, and can be added to on approval by the Audit Committee.
