If you have Certified grade, you’re at the highest level of direct entry assessed membership we have available, with all the added credibility and the opportunity to raise your professional profile that comes with it. It enables you to demonstrate your status within the industry and ensure your skills and knowledge are recognised. It could improve your career prospects. It also means that you’re on the pathway towards achieving Fellow grade - the most prestigious grade awarded by the institute.

> Use ’CBIFM’ after your name on business cards, emails, websites and other business collateral to reflect your high level of membership
> Show your continuing commitment to FM industry standards
> Vote at the AGM and influence the direction of the Institute
> Be part of shaping the future of BIFM and the FM sector

Route 3

I have Affiliate or Associate grade

Am I eligible to upgrade to Certified grade?

	An MSC in Facilities Management
Or	An Msc that is FM or FM-related and recognised by a Chartered body
And	You’re of middle management level with at least three year’s FM experience (including two year’s management experience)

Route 4

I have Member grade

Am I eligible to upgrade to Certified grade?

	An MSC in Facilities Management
Or	An MSC that’s FM or FM-related and recognised by a Chartered body (verified by our Membership team)
And	You’re of middle management level with at least three year’s FM experience (including two year’s management experience)

Route 5

I became Member grade (MBIFM) before 2010

Am I eligible to upgrade to Certified grade?

To upgrade you to Certified grade, we only ask for an upgrade application form and an original qualification certificate or certified copy (signed by the awarding body) of one of the following:

> BIFM recognised qualification in FM at Level 6 or above
> Relevant Chartered status
> MBA qualification

You can also apply to Upgrade to Certified grade if you select one of the following routes:

CBIFM - BIFM - Part II
CBIFM - Completed BIFM accredited qualification
CBIFM - Completed BIFM Level 6 diploma
CBIFM - Met exempting qualifying criteria

If you have a BIFM level 6 diploma, BIFM Part II qualification or a BIFM accredited HE qualification in FM at Level 6 or above, all we need to upgrade you is:

Your job description
A copy of your most recent CV
Your original qualification certificate or a copy signed by the awarding body
A contact referee
Your upgrade application

If you have a broad FM qualification or a specific FM qualification, all we need to upgrade you is:

Your job description
A copy of your most recent CV
Your original qualification certificate or a copy signed by the awarding body
Your upgrade application

The assessment fee for this upgrade is £70.00. However, route 5 does not have an assessment fee.
