London Region hosted a well-attended presentation of the FM World Salary Survey results on 9th March.
FMW editor Cathy Hayward summarised the findings (published with the 27th January issue) and the team from FM recruitment specialists PSD provided more in-depth analysis of the dynamics of the FM job market.
Peter McLennan, joint course director of UCL’s BIFM-accredited MSc in facility and environment management, provided the context for the certificate presentations that followed.
McLennan presented research by the DfES which quantified the economic benefit, to the individual and the country, of better education. The UK is well placed amongst our competitors but he also sounded a warning. Both China and India are not only cheaper, they are also smarter. The UK has poor science and maths skills in comparison with several of the growing economies.
Twenty London Region members recently completed Part 1 or 2 of the BIFM Exam and BIFM CEO Ian Fielder presented certificates to three of them: Julian Burton Judi Denny and Giles Mountain.
Ian Fielder also presented Stephen Price (pictured left) with his BIFM Qual certificate.
