AWE extends Emcor contract

02-01-07 13:46 FM World

Emcor Facilities Services has had its contract with the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) to manage its facilities extended. The original contract was won in 2003 and the mid-point performance review has refreshed the terms and extended the contract for up to five years with a further performance review due at the two-year point to ensure continued value for money.

The facilities services contract will cover a significant portion of the non-critical assets across the 1,000 acre Aldermaston and Burghfield sites including building maintenance and condition monitoring through to postal, reception and telecommunications support. Emcor will also advise AWE on energy management, focusing on significant savings in energy costs year on year and working closely to align with AWE's own environmental strategies.

AWE has 1,600 buildings and over 3,500 employees across the two sites.
