Shattered Lives Campaign starts

19-02-08 11:32 BIFM

Every month more than 1,000 workers suffer serious injury due to a slip, trip or fall from height. Lives are shattered as a result, not just for the worker concerned, but also think of their family, their mates and their company.

That is why Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have  launched the ‘Shattered Lives’ campaign next week.

As a BIFM member you are ideally placed to help prevent these shocking injuries on your estate.

What you can do to help:

  • Check that the workers on your sites are competent, they know the risks, use the right equipment to work at height and know how to use it safely.
  • Organise a breakfast meeting or toolbox talk to discuss the risks with your clients or workers who use your sites.
  •  Mail all contractors about the risks and what you expect them to do to manage them.
  • Add the Shattered Lives link to your email signature.

For more information about the campaign please visit the link below and sign up for regular e-bulletins. Alternatively, please email Gloria Dixon, HSE Slips, Trips and Falls Programme Gloria.dixon@hse.gsi.gov.uk
