The Facilities Show, in association with the BIFM took place for the 9th year running on 13-15 May 2008 at the NEC in Birmingham. This was a must-attend event for all facilities professionals, with this year’s show being the largest and most comprehensive ever.
Exhibiting with our two joint venture partners, Redactive and BIFM Training, we were able to ensure that we were able to respond to the whole picture of member and non member enquiries. This was feasible due to a recently purpose designed exhibition stand that engages delegates in the complete range of services available through membership. The facilities show was held alongside other related shows such as the health and Safety, which encouraged a greater footprint as delegates naturally migrated from one show to another which were strategically held in adjacent exhibition halls.
The BIFM gave a warm welcome to members and non members alike at stand B21 and potential members could find out more about the great benefits of BIFM membership. With plenty of information and flyers available, it was a worthwhile experience for all. With over 100 exhibitors taking part, it was a fantastic three days and a very worthwhile experience.
A highlight for attendees at the show was the opportunity to meet the incoming chair, Iain Murray and his deputies David Wilson and Robert Greenfield at the stand on day 1 of the exhibition. All enjoyed the opportunity to meet and interact with members.
Another highlight for visitors was the roundtable debate, the 5th in a series, forming part of the BIFM Sustainable FM Knowledge Transfer Partnership, ’Sustainability in FM - by default or design?’ The debate kicked off with the question ‘what is Sustainability in FM?’ With the panel including Robert Greenfield, group director for safety, health and environment, Claire Shepherd, senior consultant, Johnson Controls and Greg Davies, head of service development, Elementus, this was a thought-provoking topic where the audience were invited to present and share their views.
The roundtable event, supported by headline sponsors Kinnarps was held on the 14th May.
The show offered a tremendous opportunity to promote networking at all levels where suppliers and clients could gain knowledge and information in a neutral but exciting environment.
