BIFM launches FM Taxonomy

10-06-08 23:29 BIFM

BIFM's Publications Sub-committee has produced a facilities management taxonomy to help members and the wider facilities management community structure their understanding of the scope of the field.

The taxonomy splits FM into two primary areas: Strategic Facilities Management and Business Management. The latter is divided into three: Physical asset management, Services Management and Process Management with nested levels below.

Taxonomy terms have been linked to the website’s search engine to give access to related articles, documents, news and other content.

Click the link below to access the taxonomy. It is a work in progress and BIFM is keen to receive feedback.

NB A taxonomy is the systematic distinguishing, ordering and naming of type groups within a subject field. In the business environment a taxonomy is a classification system for improved information management.
