Sustainability in FM website launch

07-04-09 9:35 BIFM

With sustainability leading the way in topical issues, the BIFM has launched a new website specifically tackling the challenge and supporting the development of sustainability in facilities management.

SustainabilityinFM.org.uk has been developed thanks to an initiative put forward by the Sustainability SIG.  It is to enable FM professionals to improve the implementation and management of sustainable practices in the working environment.  The site will also provide links to recommend organisations and centres of excellence.

There are currently 15 case studies available illustrating the key topics of energy, waste and transport management.  The examples detail practical, easy to use best practice on sustainability issues based on facilities manager’s work experiences.  Ultimately, the project aims to have 100 case studies covering a wide selection of topics, including environmental, social and economic projects.

The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project, sponsored by Kinnarps, is a partnership between the BIFM and the University of Reading, and has been funded through a grant from the Technology Strategy Board.  Sponsorship opportunities of the website are available – if you are interested please contact Gordon Ludlow on 07986 819 084.
