UBM Live's The Facilities Show, the UK's leading FM event, took home the "Best Trade Show under 2,000m2" crown at the AEO Excellence Awards 2009. Having fended off competition from other industry renowned events, The Facilities Show, in association with the BIFM, received the award due to its great use of technology and impressive expansion in terms of visitors and exhibitors.

The awards, which were presented on 19th June at the London Hilton, Park Lane, take place annually and recognise excellent products and business performance in the events industry.

Darren Gilchriest, Event Manager of The Facilities Show, said: "We celebrated our tenth anniversary at this year's event and we are delighted to wrap up a decade of success with this prestigious award. We are extremely proud of The Facilities Show's development over the last few years which has led to the show expanding exponentially. We work closely with the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) to ensure the programme on offer to visitors is unparalleled and we look forward to continuing to offer this expanding industry a platform on which it may grow further."

Ian Fielder, CEO of the BIFM, said: "I am delighted to hear that The Facilities Show 2009 has won the Best Trade Show award at the Association of Exhibition Organisers Awards held recently.  This is a great achievement for the industry, especially considering the challenges that we all currently face.  The BIFM is always proud to be a part of this annual event, and the show itself was a fantastic success, with hundreds of industry professionals being brought together.  Now in its tenth year, it is excellent to see this key industry event receive the well deserved recognition that it has done."

The Facilities Show 2009, in association with the BIFM, took place from 12-14 May at the NEC Birmingham. The show welcomed 19,575* industry professionals (subject to ABC Audit), hosted 132 leading FM manufacturers, distributors and suppliers in the extensive exhibition and offered unparalleled, free-of-charge educational content across two dedicated theatres. Furthermore, the floor size of the show expanded a further 13% from 2008 representing its fourth successive year of growth.

Since its inception, The Facilities Show has consistently focussed on the key issues in the industry to ensure its visitors walk away from the show feeling up-to-date with the latest developments. 2009 proved no different with Green FM once again dominating the agenda.

Feedback from exhibitors at The Facilities Show 2009 clearly demonstrate the event's success:

Robin Turver, National Sales Director of LTT Vending, said: "Having exhibited at The Facilities Show for a number of years now, we have noticed the changes the show has made to ensure its exhibitors and visitors are getting the most out of the event. This year was extremely successful for us as we were able to meet key decision makers from leading UK organisations and generate a number of quality leads."

Tom Brookes, Director of Lindum Fire Services, said: "This year's show has surpassed our expectations – our stand was busy and we generated strong leads. This is a very important show for us and is our main event for the year."

Sarah Wood, Commercial Manager of CLM Ltd, added: "This was our seventh year at The Facilities Show and was our most successful event to date. We have generated more than 100 leads and have had excellent feedback from our customers."
