Feel good!  One of the BIFM Chairman’s charities, Macmillan Cancer Support has its annual World's Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 25th September.  Have fun with your family, friends and colleagues, and join thousands of others in changing the lives of people affected by cancer. Whether you raise £10 or £200, every penny will make a difference.

Last year, more than 45,000 people held coffee mornings and, together with their family, friends and colleagues, raised over £7.5 million. And this is how your coffee morning could help…

£1 will ensure one more person receives leaflets giving them information on their cancer and where they can get support.

£22 will fund a Macmillan family support worker for an hour, helping families who have been affected by a cancer diagnosis receive the support they need.

£40 will help a cancer support group hold their first meeting.

£156 will run our CancerLine for an hour, providing on average 13 people affected by cancer with essential information, practical and emotional support.

£184 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a working day.

£278 will keep a Macmillan cancer information and support centre stocked for a month with all the information resources, leaflets, guides and directories it needs to support people affected by cancer.

£544 will help run a typical large Macmillan information and support centre.

£918 will pay for a Macmillan nurse for a working week, providing expert information, advice and support to improve the lives of people with cancer.

£105,333 could fund one of Macmillan's new rehabilitation support teams for a year.

Around £1,500,000 could pay for a new large Macmillan information and support centre.

So, this Friday 25 September, get together for the World's Biggest Coffee Morning. Invite friends and family over for a cuppa and some tasty treats. Take a break in the office and catch up with colleagues. Or organise a coffee morning at your school, community centre or church hall. Whatever you do, raise your cup and make a difference.

Every day 822 people in the UK are told they have cancer. This is news that not only turns their world upside down but also affects their family and friends.
