The BIFM has signed up to support the grassroots 10:10 campaign, encouraging individuals, schools, businesses and organisations to cut their carbon emissions by 10% in 2010.
The 10:10 campaign has a simple message – committing to cutting your carbon emissions by 10% in 2010. The campaign was launched on Tuesday 1st September at the Tate Modern and is encouraging individuals, schools, hospitals, businesses and organisations to join and actively help to combat climate change by making simple changes to their lifestyles, homes and workplaces.
Thousands of individuals and businesses have already signed up to commit to reducing their carbon emissions. Individuals like Mark Ronson, Ian McEwan, and Stella McCartney, and organisations such as Business in the Community, Tottenham FC, Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), plus universities, schools and local authorities have all made their pledge, along with the entire cabinet and shadow cabinet.
BIFM has committed to tackling carbon emissions from its head office operation and other activities in three main areas: electricity consumption, vehicle use and air travel.
10:10 is the perfect opportunity to discover what’s possible when we work together. The organisation behind the movement is made up mainly of volunteers donating their spare time.
