New FM qualification awarded

BIFM Training are proud to introduce the first person to be awarded with the new FM Qualification – the ILM Level 3 Award in FM.

The ILM Level 3 FM qualifications, which were developed jointly with BIFM and accredited onto the Qualification and Credit Framework in the autumn of 2008, develop both leadership and management skills, alongside specific facilities management competences.

Paul Cartwright, contract manager for Powermister Gleeson Services, attended the three-day FM foundation course ‘Understanding FM’ in April this year and has gone on to successfully complete both his on line study and selection of work based assignments to achieve the qualification within just four months.

Paul (pictured) believes his organisation will definitely look to enrol more candidates on this FM Award; it was a very good and very weighted syllabus:

Paul said: "For any young aspiring person looking to go into the field of FM, it is a fantastic place to begin.  It gives clear direction for those wanting to know - is this really what I want to do?  I have worked on the heavy side of M&E in hospitals and site based schools and office construction and with my organisation expanding into FM services they wanted me to explore this area further.  It has given me a great insight into FM and will help me support this growth area of the organisation."
