Dave Wilson steps down from Board

12-01-10 16:0 BIFM

Dave Wilson is to step down from the Board of BIFM with immediate effect to ensure there are no perceived conflicts of interest between his new business, Training4FM and BIFM Training.

Dave has been a member of the BIFM since 1999, was appointed to the Board in 2006 and served as deputy chair from 2007 to 2009. He has also chaired the International Special Interest Group and will continue to serve as a committee member.

Commenting on his decision to resign from the Board, he said: "It is important that BIFM operates to the highest principles of corporate governance. My new role with Training4FM raised the possibility of a conflict of interest in the area of training which it is important, both for BIFM and myself, that we avoid.

"I decided that it would be best for the smooth running of the BIFM Board that I should step down. It has been a privilege to serve on the Board, and I wish all my colleagues and the staff of BIFM every success."

BIFM Chair Iain Murray said: "Dave has been a valued member of the BIFM Board and I applaud his decision to step down to avoid any possibility of a conflict of interest. I know that he will continue to make a valuable contribution to the development of the profession and the Institute."
