New grants to help FM apprentices

29-01-10 10:54 BIFM

A £2,500 grant to help FM and cleaning companies take on young apprentices has been announced.

Up to 5,000 apprenticeship grants for employers of 16 and 17 year olds will be released over the next nine weeks by the National Apprenticeship Service.

Last year, more than 70,000 young people started an apprenticeship but there are many more people who want to learn while they work, and employers are being encouraged to help them do so.

Asset Skills, the sector skills council for FM and cleaning is urging small and medium-sized organisations who may be interested to apply. Larger companies who can demonstrate that they are supporting small firms in their supply chain could also be eligible.

Vacancies can be advertised through the National Apprenticeship Service.

The grants are available immediately to organisations who are able to offer an opportunity to young people. Email enquiries@assetskills.org for more information.
