The latest Sustainability in FM event recently took place at the historic venue of the British Museum in London to celebrate the successful launch of its website.
The evening kicked off with an introduction given by Steve Gill, director of visitor and building services at the British Museum – the second largest museum in the world. He explained how they had managed to reduce its carbon footprint by 30% over the last four years, and how 80% of its waste is now recycled.
He then handed over to new BIFM Chairman Ian Broadbent, who went on to talk about how he felt the event was an opportunity to talk about and recognise “partnerships, achievements and thank you’s.”
Professor Will Hughes, from the University of Reading (the university working alongside the BIFM on this project), then spoke about how he recognises even the smaller things that FMs do, and how the industry as a whole has a tendency to be all inclusive
