As part of the ThinkFM conference, brought to you by BIFM in association with Workplace Law, there is a site visit planned to Central Saint Martins.
Central Saint Martins is part of University of the Arts London, Europe’s largest centre for education in art, communication and design. Previously, its premises were scattered in and around central London, and so in a grand bid to bring all the disciplines together on one purpose-built site, the University committed £200 million to create a remarkable campus in in the Granary Complex at the heart of the 67 acre King’s Cross development. The new campus has clearly opened up exciting possibilities for creative collaboration as well as promising an outstanding social scene for students at the heat of London’s newest cultural quarter.
Courtesy of the Estates Department at the University of London, ThinkFM is offering an exclusive guided tour of the refurbished 19th century buildings and the new build elements, taking in the 110m street, studios, workshops, roof terrace, refectory, theatre and library. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to ask about the challenges of running a building for over 4,000 students.
Simon Francis, Senior Facilities Manager for the University of Arts, will also be giving a presentation on the facilities, looking at the design and management of the building. This will take place prior to the site visit in Hub 1.
If you would like a chance to explore some contemporary industrial architecture, and see the challenges faced by the facilities managers, please indicate this when you book for ThinkFM.
The site visit is on Monday 18 June, 11:30 – 13:30. Places are limited to 20 people and transport will be provided to and from the site visit from the conference venue.
