FM World seeks readers' opinions on its future

Official BIFM magazine, FM World, is asking institute members to help in determining the future direction of the content it produces. The title, published daily online and fortnightly in print, is conducting the latest in its biannual readership surveys in the teeth of a dramatically changing media landscape.
"It's important above all else to reflect what BIFM members need," said editor Martin Read.
"Quality and relevance of content is far more important than its sheer volume. Also, we canít just assume that our readers are happy with what we write and how we present it. So conducting this survey puts the power in to BIFM members hands; it allows our readers to influence the way we work. It keeps us on our toes, and thatís entirely as it should be."
Early results of the 2016 survey suggest readers are keen on more self-contained best practice pieces and step-by-step guides.
"We're building a really interesting picture of people's preferences," said Read, "but we still need more people to take part. The more voices we represent, the better our end product will be".
The FM World Reader Survey can be accessed here.
Reduced in overall size from previous such surveys, it takes around ten minutes to complete.
As an incentive, one individual will be picked out from all survey participants to receive £150 in John Lewis vouchers.
The survey closes at the end of February. Says Read: "I'd encourage all BIFM members to complete this survey. We know that FM World is already seen as a key benefit of membership - please help us do as much as we can for you."
