Learners who have achieved a BIFM qualification in facilities management are invited to attend BIFM’s second annual Achievement Ceremony taking place on 6 July.
The event, to be held at the BT Auditorium in London, is a celebration of those who have progressed, grown and achieved by studying for a BIFM qualification and recognises the importance of continued learning and professional development at any career stage.
For 2017, BIFM is also inviting entries to the inaugural David Batley Learner of the Year Awards in memory of BIFM ambassador and former chief examiner David Batley who passed away in February.
In addition to being one of BIFM’s first fellows, David was a council member, regional committee member, membership assessor and author of the 20 competences that have been superseded by the FM Professional Standards.
BIFM acting chief executive Linda Hausmanis said: “David was fundamental to the creation of the BIFM qualifications; it was due to his research and findings that BIFM made the decision to become a regulated awarding organisation and create our well-established industry-recognised professional qualifications.
“David was well-known for being a passionate advocate of career development opportunities and fully encouraged it and we can’t think of a better way to honour his memory than to name the new Learner of the Year awards after such an inspirational man.”
There are two award categories – Operational Learner of the Year (for achievers of a BIFM Level 2-4 Qualification) and Strategic Learner of the Year (for achievers of a BIFM Level 5-7 Qualification) – and both are open to individuals who can demonstrate how they have applied the skills and knowledge they have gained through their studies to benefit their organisation and its stakeholders.
Full details on the award criteria and how to submit an entry can be downloaded here. The closing date for entries is Wednesday 31 May. Finalists will be announced at the end of June.
Attendance at the Achievement Ceremony is free and learners are invited to bring one guest at no cost, however, places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
