With just under three weeks to go until polling day, BIFM has been reviewing the manifestos of the three major political parties to identify the election promises which may impact on the future of the FM industry.
BIFM’s acting chief executive Linda Hausmanis said: “BIFM has recently appointed a senior policy advisor to help further the voice of our members and the wider FM sector. We hope that this position will help to strengthen the position of the Institute as the authoritative voice of the profession. The new role will help contribute to policy development across a range of BIFM activities. It is intended that it will also allow our members to be kept informed of political developments that impact on the FM industry and help them to extend their influence.”
The summary of these manifestos is available to view here.
Hausmanis continued: “With the UK's withdrawal from the EU the major talking point of this election, we must not lose sight of that ‘business as usual’ needs to continue for our FM people, employers, and suppliers. With facilities management contributing up to 8 per cent of UK GDP then its importance to the UK economy should not be underestimated. I would therefore urge all of our members to review the documents prior to election day on 8 June.”
