Welcome to my blog. I had one thought in mind when I first expressed a notion to write an infrequent blog of my activities as Chair of BIFM, openness. All too often the workings of an organisation seem distant and irrelevant and I wanted to try and introduce the human element. This is it. Over the coming two years I plan to upload some thoughts, accounts of actions and events and to generally make some comments on the facilities management industry and BIFM. I plan to do this on average every two weeks, we'll see if that idea lasts.

Twitter has obviously taken off since then and now if you serach for any number of hashtags (#) relating to FM, you can keep up with lots of information and events through the micro blogging service, here are a few "follow Friday's" (this is a tradition from within Twitter where you recomend other people to follow by using the hashtag #ff)
Here is my #ff list:
#bifm - this is obvious
#wifm - women in FM
@FM_World - The official twitter acount of FM World
@iain_murray - that's me
@ibraodbe - Ian Broadbent, the incoming Chair
@iswhiz - Ismena Clout, incoming Deputy Chair
@FMcoach - Liz Kentish the Chair of WIFM
@cathy_fm_world - Cathy Hayward the editor of FM World
@occupiers - Paul Carder's Occupiers Journal
@LaurieSteiner - Editor of IFMA's FMJ magazine

@FMXmagazine - FMX Magazine
@guardian1010 - The Guardians coverage of 1010
@richardbyatt - the BIFM's Communications Director
@IFMA - The official twitter acount of the IFMA
@fairsnape - Martin Brown THE founding father of FM on Twitter
There are some Twitter lists that may be of interest too :
@iain_murray/facilitiesmanagement
@FMCoach/facilitiesmanagement
@thefmguru/facilities-management
Twitter is a very easy way to keep up with a wide range of view, thoughts, blogs, articles, news and people and I strongly recommend looking at following some of the above to get you started.
I have written my final column for FM World which is published on the same day as the BIFM Members Day and AGM, the 17th of June, I plan to do all of my thanks and acknowledgements there, but in this blog, I just want to say thanks to anyone who took the time to read it. I think I achieved the goal of making the human connection between the CHair and the membership, I hope you feel the same way.
