FM Excellence in a Major Project
This Award focuses on the lasting impact of innovative thinking. A ‘major’ project is one that makes a significant contribution to almost every aspect of an organisation’s operating style and affects the majority of its employees.
King’s College London and Bouygues Energies & Services; Public Private Partnership Efficiency Review
The contract between King’s College London (KCL) and Bouygues falls under the Private Financial Initiative (PFI) and has been in place since 1999. By 2012 it was recognised that the requirement had changed substantially from the start of the contract and the joint KCL/Bouygues Accommodation Efficiency Review Project was initiated.
The project had a number of inter-linked objectives including reducing expenditure, improving service delivery, improving energy management, etc. However what impressed the judges was the way in which the team had worked within the confines of a PFI arrangement to turn what was effectively an inward looking FM service delivery regime into one which embraced the wider student customer body.
It has even managed to ’educate’ the academics in the need to turn lights and PCs off (in the interest of energy management) when they are not in use.
HIGHLY COMMENDED: ISS and Barclays; Project Unity
|ISS became the sole facilities provider to Barclays across Americas, UK, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East, managing the entire portfolio as one, delivering 30 services across 37 countries.
Barclays went to market not knowing if they would end up with a number of contractors or just one. They set their standards, challenged the providers
