The In-House FM Team of the Year Award recognises the outstanding contributions made by a team in organisations, large or small.


The strategic decision in 2010 to bring In house the engineering services and some 850+ individuals provided a strong business case based on value and quality improvements.

Strong leadership skills were demonstrated providing direction to a large multi skilled team delivering exceptional customer service and value to Tesco. The team were able to provide evidence from customer and employee surveys to  demonstrated YOY improvements and feedback from end users on the improvements in the service today. Investment is made in people including bench roles and training and development such as graduate and  apprentice programme  and leadership development programme.

Value delivered included an improvement of over 30% of the productivity of the engineering workforce and no cost increase in the services provided even though the estate had grown by 25%. 

Standardised KPIís were in place to measure and benchmark quality of services across the portfolio, with a strong governance between the business and the engineering business unit to ensure they understood the store directors future plans and to enable them to respond quickly to changes. Tools are in place to drive continuous improvement e.g. energy display boards, HVAC monitoring, IMS controls to provide a predictive maintenance regime. This supported the strategy to change the service from reactive to pro active.

Outstanding environmental and sustainable results including support to the local community by the team of over 2,000 hours and introduction of technology to drive reductions in energy.



The transformational journey the Land Registry team have taken between 2008 and 2014 is one that has seen much change both strategically and operationally driven by the economic downturn in 2008. Evidence was provided to support the teamís achievements Ė opex reduction by 7.7%, cost of space m2 down 8.6% and significant environmental targets including carbon reduction of 14% and waste 15%.

Investment in their people was impressive with individuals taking professional qualifications in RICS, prince 2, APM, BIFM, Neboshh and CIPs.
