Rising FMs

The Rising FMs Special Interest Group believe that getting groups of industry professionals together to share ideas, knowledge and best practice is great for both the individuals and the wider industry. We specialise in running relaxed and informal events with a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. We try to make it as easy as possible for those interested in the facilities management (FM) profession to come along and get involved.

Our regular events range from opportunities to meet other FM people in purely social environments, through to technical learning and soft skills development workshops. At the heart of the Rising’s philosophy is the idea that FM events should be fun, so we try to make them light-hearted and entertaining and keep the formalities to a minimum.

Even though we like to make them fun, our Continuous Professional Development (CPD) events still link very closely to the FM Professional Standards, so as well as having a great time you’ll learn something useful too. We usually run our CPD events around the competencies described in the standards at Management level which makes them perfect for both developing the skills of newer professionals as well as refreshing the skills of more established ones.

The Rising FMs also hold an annual event focused on career development options and opportunities. This event is a “must attend” for those looking to take the next steps and actively develop their careers.

The Rising FMs are particularly welcoming to newbies and are always willing to help those who are apprehensive about their first networking experience, so do please take the plunge and get involved.

Our Purpose

“To make facilities management accessible to everyone that seeks to embrace it. To help those within FM to develop the confidence, skills and personal connections to become established professionals.”

Our Aspiration

“To be the gateway into the industry for FM professionals.”

Our Values

“Putting the ’fun’ in FM and taking the ’scary’ out of networking. Promoting the FM industry through the sharing of knowledge.”
