BIFM Direct has been shortlisted for a second award just weeks after it was announced as a finalist in the European Association Awards 2017.

The online learning and assessment portal is now also in the running for an Association Excellence Award having been shortlisted in the Best Training Initiative category, which recognises the association that has the most innovative, inspirational and productive training initiative for its members.

Launched in November 2015, BIFM Direct offers flexible and cost-effective learning that allows FM professionals based anywhere in the world to study online and at their own pace for a BIFM Qualification in facilities management.

BIFM acting chief executive Linda Hausmanis said: “Since its launch, almost 500 learners from more than 20 countries have registered with BIFM Direct as they look to BIFM as a benchmark of excellence. Through BIFM Direct we have been able to open up new routes to learning for those looking to gain an industry-recognised BIFM qualification in order to progress in their FM career and personal development.

“We believe education is key to advancing our fast-growing profession and BIFM Direct has enabled us to not only work ever more closely with employers to embed our learning portal within their staff development programmes, but engage with the next generation of FM practitioners. We are therefore delighted that BIFM Direct has been shortlisted for not one, but two sought-after association awards.”

BIFM’s magazine FM World, which was relaunched as a monthly publication last summer, has also been announced as a finalist in the Best Association Magazine or Newsletter (12,000 to 18,500 circulation) category.

FM World editor Martin Read said: “Being shortlisted is recognition of the immense amount of hard work that went into our restructuring project last year. The process of due diligence conducted in partnership with BIFM was, in my experience, uniquely comprehensive and the team here on FM World and at BIFM spent many an hour assessing members’ needs in what is a rapidly evolving media landscape.

“Ensuring the new monthly FM World meets the needs of every level of BIFM member was incredibly important to all of us, so for the Association Excellence Awards to recognise the end result is enormously gratifying. Whether we win or not, FM World’s nomination is testament to the strong relationship between BIFM and FM World’s publishers Redactive and the hard work of the teams in both organisations. My fingers are crossed.”

The winners of the Association Excellence Awards will be revealed at a ceremony taking place on 31 March at the Hurlingham Club in London.

In January, it was announced that BIFM Direct had been shortlisted as a finalist in the European Association Awards 2017 within the ‘Best Training Initiative’ category. The Awards recognise excellence and exceptional quality delivered by associations across Europe and build on the success of the UK Association Excellence Awards.
