BIFM calls for nominations to its Board committees

A recruitment drive has been launched by the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) to fill a number of roles on its three Board committees.

FM professionals holding BIFM Member grade or above who can demonstrate the required skills and experience are eligible to apply for the seats, which are currently being held by interim committee members following constitutional changes ratified by the Board at the 2016 AGM.

Up to six seats are potentially available on each committee dependant on whether the interim members who are currently serving choose to re-stand.

BIFM company secretary Donna Duckworth said: “The 2016 AGM saw some fundamental changes to our constitution, including the realignment of the Board committees. These changes are designed to reduce the overlap of activity between committees and to ensure we have the appropriate level of expertise to effectively support the Board.

“We are now recruiting for members to sit on these committees, offering them the chance to make a positive difference to the Institute

.”BIFM’s committees facilitate good governance by providing advice and guidance, or monitoring the implementation of the Institute’s activities. The composition of the three committees – Audit & Risk, Constitution & Ethics and Nominations & Remuneration – all vary and full role descriptions including person specifications for each are available here.

Expert roles are required on both the Audit & Risk and Nominations & Remuneration committees, while one non-member position (lay member) is required on each of the three committees.

Application forms can be downloaded here and should be returned to the Company Secretary via email by Monday 31 July 2017.

An interview process will take place before the successful candidates are officially appointed by the Board, which has the final decision.
