BIFM’s 2017 Pay and Prospects Survey has officially opened and the Institute is encouraging FM professionals to take part in the annual poll and share their views on pay and the future of the FM industry.
Formerly the “Salary Survey”, the Pay and Prospects Survey is a well-established, invaluable piece of research that contributes to the understanding of the FM industry and the outlook for FM professionals in the future.
Peter Brogan, Research and Information Manager at BIFM, said: “The purpose of the Pay and Prospects Survey is to understand the trends in pay, working conditions and prospects for both new and existing FM professionals. With 12 years of trend data, the survey offers a detailed insight into what it is like to work in the FM sector at the current time and helps us to track the evolving and changing working conditions for FM professionals.”
The 2016 Pay and Prospects Survey revealed that in a fluid jobs market, FM professionals are expected to present themselves as comprehensively trained and communications-savvy. It also highlighted that FM is no longer an industry you just “fall into”, but a sector that demands a high level of technical skill, qualifications and experience.
The 2016 results in numbers:
- 71% of respondents said their employer offers flexible working
- 39% said they joined their current employer for a fresh challenge
- 28% said they would be seeking to leave their current job in the next two years because of a lack of career opportunity
