BIFM response to Dame Judith Hackitt's 'Building a Safer Future' report

Following publication of the Hackitt report, industry was given the opportunity to respond to the recommendations made in the report. BIFM contributed to a sector-wide response co-ordinated by the Construction Industry Council (CIC). Complementing this CIC-led response, BIFM has been undertaking its own work through a Life Safety Working Group to improve safety best practice for FMs.
The Industry Response Group (IRG), which has been supporting the work of the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government since the Grenfell tragedy, is now continuing its work, helping to make the Hackitt report recommendations become a reality. The IRGís Steering Group on competency is working with wider industry stakeholders to develop a robust competency framework. BIFM is also supporting this work, focusing on the competency requirements for the concept of the Building Safety Manager as outlined in the Hackitt report.
BIFM will broadcast a webinar to articulate our work and recommendations on the key issues in this area in early autumn.
